You can argue 8½ ways to Sunday about Richmond’s best pizza, but raise a slice of pandemic praise to Jo-Jo’s at the corner of 12th and Main streets. Even amid downtown’s eerie workday silence for much of the past year-plus, Jo-Jo’s never stopped serving up its two-slice special (with fountain drink, for about $9 after tax) – and those slices do New York proud: The homemade crust is a big winner at regular bake, well-done or out of the fridge later, and the sauce hits the right savory notes. The subs and calzones get high marks, too. Traffic is picking up downtown, and Jo-Jo’s is thinking positive thoughts: A second location is close to debuting off Midlothian Turnpike near North Woolridge Road, at the former location of A N.Y. Slice.
